Tuned XGBoost presence/absence models from BBA_Models, trained on the TALIN VA/WV survey points and predicted at 30 m over Rockbridge County, VA (with Lexington and Buena Vista).

SHAP values are xgboost TreeSHAP (pred_contribs, path-dependent) on the log-odds scale: the base value φ₀ plus the covariates' SHAP equals the model's log-odds f(x), and p = 1/(1 + e^−f(x)). Probabilities are not post-hoc calibrated.

Prediction: fixed 0–1. SHAP: centred on 0, blue raises and red lowers suitability; one symmetric limit per species (the 99th percentile of |SHAP| over all its covariates), values beyond clipped. Zoomed-out tiles average the values before colouring.
